Simple search - general

With simple search you can search in simply way with an input mask. In the expert search more complex queries are possible. The German presentation below might be helpfully.

Starting patentGate

patentGate is a multi user system. Each user has to log in with login and password to work with the system.

Expert search

In the window expert search you can phrase complex search queries in an editor.

Number search

In the window Number search it is possible to enter several patent numbers (one per line).

Favourites

You find the window Favourites via the left menu item Search. Here you see all saved search results and favourite lists.

Filter querys

To structure the document to process of the Verteiler and viewer the filter function was developed. This function enables to create global baskets for all useres and additionally individual filters to filter the amount of documents by your own conditions. Therefore you can edit document e.g. of the main competitor faster.

Editing documents

The window Edit document is to modify or add the content of the search fields and can only be opened by users of the roles administrator or patent department. Start the edit mode in the document display via the tool menu.

Viewing documents

The window document display shows the bibliographic data of the chosen document. For a faster classification you see draft to the patent, if available.

Groups administration

In the window Groups (in the left menu below Users) you can manage the user groups of patentGate.

Export table

You can export document sets to use data from patentGate in other applications, for instance to create statistic analyses.

Reserve order - document display

Additionally to Alert PatFamService you can reserve documents for the order in the document display. There you can reserve with INPADOC family or Citations.

Input assistance

The input assistance supports you to fill in search queries or conditions at several points in patentGate.

User settings

In Settings (left menu in User) you can change the settings for the System configuration and the User data.

Working with descriptors

Descriptors are customer-specific classifications and keywords. Here we inform you about the different possibilities to work with descriptors.

Recipient

As patent department or Verteiler you can define recipients. These will be displayed in the left frame when you create a circular. Like this you can choose them faster.

Status information for other users

As stand-in for vacation or sick leave you can display the feedback for other users of the patent department.

Edit search results

In the edit mode of the search results you see the documents in the single-mode display. You can edit each document.

Saved queries

In the window Queries (in menu Search) you can display and edit a saved search query.

Create a circular with a list

With this feature you can prepare the circular in a clearly arranged list. Instead of pass through the documents step by step you see all documents in a list and you can delete uninteresting documents, select interesting documents or assign descriptors.

Alerts

The alert function of patentGate enables to observe patents or patent families on new publications or grants. Additionally you can order missing family members. For this you first choose Monitor document/family in the document display.

Change responsibility in the patent department

If a member of the patent department leaves the company, it is useful to let his successor receive comments from the circular.
