Compatibility mode in the Internet Explorer

We recommend to use the internet explorer from version 9 on. In different versions of the internet explorer there might be problems with displaying the content. On this page we show possible solutions for Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11.

Internet Explorer 10

It may happen that some elements are not correctly displayed in the Internet Explorer 10. For example scrollbars might be hidden or some elements displaced. To fix this you need to activate the compatibility mode in the Internet Explorer 10. Activate the compatibility mode:
  1. Check whether the compatibility mode is available.
  2. By clicking on the compatibility mode it will be activated
Because of adaptations in patentGate to new web standards the automatically activated compatibility mode can inhibit the correctly display of patentGate. Deactivate the compatibility mode:
  1. To check this, you need to open the settings for the compatibility mode.
  2. In the popped up window you can remove the application from the websites that are added to the compatibility mode.
  3. Another possibility is to remove the tick at the display in the compatibility mode of intranet sites.

Internet Explorer 11

It may happen that some elements are not correctly displayed in the Internet Explorer 11. For example scrollbars might be hidden or some elements displaced if you don't use the correct compatibility mode. First check which compatibility mode you use at the moment. For this open a document in patentGate and follow the steps in this screenshot: The best compatibility mode for the display in patentGate is Edge (Standard) or 8 (Standard) always with the addition Via X-UA-kompatibles META-Tag. It might be that you see a false mode as described as follows: Reason for this are the local settings of the compatibility mode which overwrite the compatibility mode, prefered by patentGate. To remove the local compatibility settings which lead to the problems you need to open the settings of the compatibility mode. For this click on the gear wheel at the right top and choose the corresponding menu item:

Check whether the domain name in the address line, e.g. port.patentgate.de or patentgate is contained in the list and remove it from the list. If you use a patentGate of your own intranet, try to deactivate additionally the option to display intranet sites in the compatibility mode:
