Each user in patentGate owns at least one role. This means, the user can apply all functions that are assigned to this role. The default setting contains the following roles:

Configure the system, that includes amoung others user and group administration, descriptors, role, email and system configuration, access to search results of other users. |
| Bestellung / order |
Fee-based order of documents possible. |
| Gast / guest |
Only able to search for documents with simple search und view them. |
| Patentabteilung / patent department |
Create monitorings and circulars out of delivered document lists and edit the feedback, manage search queries and profiles, prepare patent data, maintain additional informations of core data. |
| Verteiler / distributor |
Same functions as viewer, additionally a Verteiler can distribute to viewer. |
| Viewer |
Viewing all documents which were distributed by patent department and Verteiler and rating them. The feedback returns to the patent department. |
Administrators can create new roles, for example to import or mange descriptors.
Please do not assign both roles
Patent department and
Viewer or
Patent department and
Distributor to one user, to prevent inconsistencies regarding document circular.
